The traffic-holding system known as Operation Brock will be reinstated on the M20 motorway to manage the high volume of lorries queueing to cross the English Channel between July and August. The decision comes after the Kent Resilience Forum (KRF) observed a significant number of crossings booked during this period.

Operation Brock involves allocating one side of the M20 for queuing lorries heading to Dover, while the other carriageway is used as a contraflow for other traffic. This system aims to minimize disruption and ease congestion caused by freight vehicles travelling to mainland Europe.
