It is understood that the Van hit a tree and caught fire. The closure was extended to J2 (Beaconsfield) and congestion was building to before J2, causing major delays on surrounding routes. Police recovered a mobile from the scene but refused to confirm if this may have been the cause of the Single vehicle Collision. It appeared that the vehicle came off the carriageway on the nearside and hit trees. The fire service and ambulance service, including air ambulance, also attended. Tragically two of the occupants died following the collision. The driver, a man aged 22, and a rear seat passenger, a man aged 31, both from Warwickshire, were both declared dead at the scene. Their next of kin have been informed. The other two passengers, both men, were taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries. The carriageway was closed for more than two hours while the emergency services dealt with the incident. Two lanes were reopened at around 6pm. Investigating officer PC Richard Martin of Roads Policing said: “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the two men who died today. “At this stage we do not believe there was another vehicle involved. However we are very keen to hear from anyone who saw the silver van prior to the collision or witnessed the collision itself.
