Two Indian Men Charged with Rape of German Tourist After Full Moon Party in Thailand

Two Indian nationals have been formally charged with raping a 24-year-old German woman following a Full Moon Party on Thailand’s Koh Phangan island.

The alleged incident took place in the boulders area of Haad Rin beach at approximately 4:50am on Friday, shortly after the island’s infamous all-night beach celebration. The victim later filed a police complaint, stating that due to heavy alcohol consumption, she was uncertain about the identities of her attackers.

Following a swift investigation by local authorities, two suspects — Vijay Dadasaheb, 47, and Rahul Balasaheb, 40 — were arrested on Saturday night.

One Confession, One Denial

According to Pol Col Apichart Chansamret, chief of Koh Phangan police station, Mr Dadasaheb confessed to the charges, while Mr Balasaheb denied raping the woman.

Balasaheb reportedly admitted to hugging and kissing the woman on the cheek, but claimed he ceased physical contact when she resisted.

Authorities have not released further details about forensic evidence or witness statements at this stage, but the investigation is ongoing as both men remain in police custody.

Victim Support and Legal Proceedings

The victim is receiving support from local authorities and consular services. Thai police have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a fair legal process and supporting the rights of victims.

The case has drawn significant attention both locally and internationally, as Thailand continues efforts to balance tourism promotion with safety and justice in high-profile cases involving foreign visitors.

Further updates will be provided as the legal process unfolds.
