Weybridge Rowing Club has confirmed that a boat and its supporting coaching launch encountered difficulty during an incident on the River Thames near Sunbury on the morning of 11 October. The boat capsized around 8:50 a.m., leading to five people, including the coach, entering the water.
In the wake of the tragedy, Weybridge Rowing Club has announced it will be closed until further notice. The club expressed gratitude to bystanders and all those who assisted in the rescue efforts and continues to appreciate the ongoing work of the search and rescue teams.

In a statement, the club said: “We are deeply saddened by this accident and our thoughts and best wishes go out to the friends and families of those affected. We are actively supporting all those impacted by this tragic event.”
