A woman has appeared in court following the fatal stabbing of 62-year-old Efthyia Constantinou in Enfield. Zaneta Peto, 55, also known as Maria Peto, and residing on Charles Street, Enfield, faced charges of murder at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, November 2.
The investigation began after a brief call to the police was made from an address on Westerham Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 30. Officers rushed to the scene and discovered Efthyia Constantinou with stab injuries. Despite their immediate response and efforts to provide assistance, Efthyia was pronounced dead at the scene.
Peto was apprehended in the early hours of Friday, October 31, and subsequently charged with murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee from the Specialist Crime Command stated: “Our sincerest condolences are offered to Efthyia’s family, friends, and the wider community who are so deeply saddened by her death. The investigation is at an early stage, but I can confirm that Zaneta was known to the victim and that we are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident.”
The victim’s family is currently being supported by specially trained officers as they navigate this difficult time.
