Woman Arrested for Attempted Murder Following Knife Assault in Dover

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a knife attack on a woman in her 50s in Biggin Street, Dover, late on Friday, 18 January 2025.

The Incident

The victim was reportedly walking along Biggin Street at around 10:10pm when she was attacked with a large kitchen knife by a woman unknown to her. The victim sustained injuries to her back and was taken to hospital for treatment. Fortunately, her injuries were not serious, and she has since been discharged.

Quick Action by Bystanders

Security staff from a nearby pub intervened in the assault, disarming and restraining the suspect until police arrived. Officers swiftly responded to the scene, arresting a 47-year-old woman who has been taken into custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Bev Morrison praised the courage of the bystanders, stating:
“This was a horrific incident, and our thoughts remain with the victim, who thankfully suffered no serious harm. I would like to commend the courageous actions of those who bravely intervened, putting themselves at risk without hesitation.”

Investigation Underway

The suspect remains in police custody as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward.
