Woman Arrested on Suspicion of Murder Following Christmas Day Death in Cannock

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man at a house in Staffordshire during the early hours of Christmas Day.

Emergency services were called to Elm Road in Norton Canes at around 3:25am today (December 25) following reports of a man in his thirties in cardiac arrest. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Staffordshire Police have confirmed that the man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

A 33-year-old woman from Cannock has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Ongoing Investigation

A police spokesperson stated: “We are working diligently to establish the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. Local residents may notice an increased police presence in the area as officers continue their enquiries and provide reassurance to the community.”

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place on Boxing Day to determine the cause of death.

Community Impact

Residents in Norton Canes expressed shock at the incident, with one neighbor commenting: “It’s heartbreaking to see something like this happen, especially on Christmas Day. The whole community is in disbelief.”

Staffordshire Police have urged anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward by calling 101 and quoting incident number 72 of 25 December. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
