A tragic incident occurred just over a week ago outside the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, resulting in the death of a pensioner who was hit by a car. The Kent police are now seeking information as they continue to investigate the incident.
The collision took place at the junction of the William Harvey Hospital and Kennington Road just after 5:10 pm on Wednesday, November 22. Emergency services were summoned to the scene following reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
The victim, a woman in her 80s, was involved in the accident with a blue Ford Kuga. Despite immediate intervention by police and paramedics, she was rushed into the hospital due to the severity of her injuries. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries while receiving medical attention.
The driver of the car involved, a 63-year-old man from Ashford, was taken into custody in connection with the incident. Subsequently, he was released on bail pending further inquiries.
Kent Police have renewed their appeal for information and are urging any eyewitnesses or individuals with dashcam footage relevant to the incident to come forward. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was entering or leaving the hospital’s car park around the time of the collision.
