Woman in Critical Condition After Cyclist Crash Near Waterloo Bridge – UKNIP

A woman has been left in critical condition following a serious collision involving two bicycles near Waterloo Bridge, prompting a major emergency response and temporary road closures in central London.

The crash occurred on Lancaster Place, just north of Waterloo Bridge, shortly before 6:00pm on Tuesday, April 29. Emergency services, including the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene following reports of a collision between two cyclists.

Emergency Services Respond Swiftly

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed:
“Police were called at 17:50hrs to Lancaster Place, WC2, following reports of a collision involving two bicycles. One woman has been taken to hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.”

The road was temporarily closed, causing traffic disruption near Trafalgar Square and Waterloo Bridge, but has since reopened as officers completed their initial response and scene assessment.

Investigation Underway

Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the collision or whether any other injuries were reported. Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.

The Metropolitan Police continues to assess the circumstances surrounding the crash. Road safety advocates have reiterated the need for increased awareness and safer infrastructure for cyclists in central London.
