Woman in Her 50s Dies in Six-Vehicle Crash; Police Launch Manhunt for Driver Who Fled Scene

A woman in her 50s has tragically died following a massive six-vehicle crash on the M40 near the village of Gaydon, Warwickshire. Police have launched a manhunt for a 23-year-old driver who allegedly fled the scene on foot after the fatal collision.

The incident occurred on Saturday night, involving a Peugeot van and five other vehicles. When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found that one of the drivers had fled. The woman who lost her life in the crash has not been named, but her family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.

Warwickshire Police are searching for Akashdeep Singh, also known as Akash, in connection with the crash. Singh is believed to have connections across the West Midlands, particularly in the Oldbury area of Sandwell. The police have shared his photo in the hope that the public can assist in locating him.

In a statement, Warwickshire Police said, “Investigations into the collision are continuing, and officers are keen to locate Singh, who also goes by the name Akash. If members of the public have information to help us find him or can share details about the collision, please get in touch.

Police are also appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of the crash, the Peugeot van, or its manner of driving prior to the collision to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Warwickshire Police, quoting incident number 303 of 28 September.
