Stolen Ford Transit Rams Police Car in Oldham Chase

A stolen Ford Transit, sporting fake number plates, sparked a dangerous police chase through Oldham on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, around 12:20pm. The truck was first spotted acting suspiciously on Park Road before officers gave chase down Wellington Street.

Police Vehicle Damaged in Ramming Incident

During the pursuit, the stolen Transit rammed a Greater Manchester Police car, causing major damage. That police vehicle has been out of action since last month. Thankfully, no officers were hurt.

Police Launch Public Appeal to ID Suspect

After intensive investigations, GMP Transport Unit is now asking the public for help to identify a man connected to the crash. Sergeant Michael Mooney stressed the seriousness of the incident:

“It’s critical we find out who caused the damage to what is an important vehicle in the fleet to help fight crime on our roads.”

“Fortunately, no officers were injured at the time, but this does not diminish the gravity of the incident or the importance of the public’s assistance in our investigation.”
