Appeal for witnesses following assault in Ryde

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was left with cuts to his head following an assault on the Isle of Wight. A 46-year-old man was walking along Adelaide Place, Ryde, close to the junction with Ratcliffe Avenue, when he was approached by a group of four men at 7.10pm on Thursday April 14. He was assaulted, leaving him with swelling to his face, damage to his teeth and a cut to his head. The four men are described as being aged between 18 and 20 years old. Detective Constable Lee Parker said: “We know that this area is popular with dog walkers and people playing football so we would urge anyone who may have seen this assault to come forward. “We are particularly keen to speak to a female aged between 18 and 20 years old and a white haired man walking a black/brown staffy type dog who were both scene in the area at the time, as they may have information that can assist our investigation. “We believe this is an isolated incident and we are doing everything we can to ensure those responsible are arrested.”
