The WWII Pillbox located at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve has suffered vandalism. The historic structure was defaced with graffiti, and a number of aerosol spray cans were lit inside it.
The precise timing of this damage is unknown, but it’s believed to have happened before December 2, 2023.
