Body recovered from River Thames in Kingston

Officers searching the River Thames in Kingston after a man was seen to enter the water have recovered a body. Police were called on Tuesday, 22 July at 8.35pm to a report of a man seen in the River Thames near Kingston High Street. The man, believed to be aged 47, is reported to have entered the water from the riverside and began swimming, but did not resurface. A body, believed to be the same man, was recovered at around 16:30hrs on Wednesday, 24 July. His next-of-kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner.
