An off-duty British Transport Police (BTP) officer played a crucial role in managing a volatile situation at Moulsecoomb railway station.
While travelling through the area, the off-duty officer observed a group of 15 youths involved in an altercation with Southern Rail UK enforcement officers on the platform. Without hesitation, the officer got off the train to assist the enforcement officers.
Amidst the chaos, the officer managed to detain the primary offender, who had spat at one of the enforcement officers. This courageous act was carried out without any protective equipment, highlighting the West Yorkshire Police Officer Nominated for National Police Bravery Award" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-wpil-monitor-id="25372">officer’s bravery and quick response in a challenging situation.
Shortly after the incident, reinforcements arrived from BTP Sussex and Sussex Police, taking over the situation and ensuring the safety of all involved. The detained individual was handed over to the authorities for further action.
