Camper Van Destroyed in Fire on Creephedge Lane as Firefighters Contain Blaze
Fire crews successfully contained a blaze that broke out early this morning on Creephedge Lane, between East Hanningfield and Woodham Ferrers, after a camper van and storage containers caught fire.

Swift Action Prevented Escalation
Station Manager John Warmann, who was at the scene, praised the crews’ efforts:
“Crews did a great job of stopping the fire from spreading, removing cylinders to prevent the incident escalating and protecting surrounding risks.”
He added:
“Unfortunately the camper van was destroyed, but crews did a fantastic job of limiting damage to vehicles and other contents in the containers.”
Firefighters established a water supply and remained on site until shortly after 1pm.
Cause Believed to Be Electrical Fault
Initial investigations suggest the fire was caused by an electrical fault in the camper van, which was parked adjacent to the storage units.
No injuries were reported, and Essex Fire and Rescue confirmed that surrounding property was successfully protected from further damage.
