A 35-year-old Canadian mother-of-four has tragically died just hours after a routine cosmetic procedure in a Turkish hospital. Jessika Chagnon Gailloux’s sudden death has sparked a police investigation, looking into substances she may have used before the operation.
Jessika’s Surgery in Antalya Ends in Tragedy
Jessika, from Saint-Lin–Laurentides, Quebec, flew to Antalya on March 2 with her friend Stephanie Jobin for a tummy tuck and breast lift at a private clinic in the city’s Kepez district. The operation reportedly went smoothly, but Jessika fell seriously ill shortly after being moved to her room for post-op care.
Despite frantic efforts from doctors, Jessika was pronounced dead around 4pm the same day.
Police Investigate, No Signs of Violence Found
Homicide detectives rushed to the hospital and treated the scene as a potential crime site, with prosecutors overseeing the probe. Officials found no external injuries beyond surgical stitches. Jessika’s body was sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy.
“Jessika was an extraordinary woman and a deeply loving mother,” the fundraiser reads.
Stephanie, handling embassy and travel arrangements, urged the public to be sensitive when discussing the case online. “She has children who are old enough to be on social media,” she said, highlighting the need for privacy during this painful time.
