CCTV released over Newham assault

Police have released an image of a man they wish to identify and speak with in connection with an unprovoked assault in Newham. On Sunday, 6 May at around 11pm the 45-year-old male victim was paying for some shopping at a convenience store at High Street North, E6. As the victim paid for his goods the suspect approached him and accused him of ‘looking at him’. The victim initially ignored the suspect and continued to complete his purchase. The suspect continued to harass the victim and eventually roughly pulled the victim across the store and pushed him out into the street knocking him over. Outside the store two further suspects also barged into the victim as he fell. Members of the public sitting in a parked car came to the aid of the victim and chased the three suspects away. The victim sustained a broken wrist and a fractured elbow as a result of the fall. Investigating officer Detective Constable David Van Der Valk of Newham CID said: “This was an entirely unprovoked and vicious attack on a member of the public just going about his business. I urge anyone who can name this person to contact us to help us apprehend this violent individual.” Anyone with information should call Newham CID by dialling 101, Tweet @MetCC or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference CAD8244/6May.
