Stabbed in the Back During Innocent Embrace
A woman has been locked up after stabbing a teenage girl in the back — while the victim thought she was sharing a friendly hug.
Kirsty Kemp, 36, arrived at a young woman’s home in Clifton, Nottingham, on the evening of 4 October 2025, clearly drunk. Known to the victim, Kemp asked the teen to go for a walk to “clear her head.”
Betrayal Near Clifton Leisure Centre
Close to Southchurch Drive by Clifton Leisure Centre, Kemp suddenly said she needed a hug. When the teenager wrapped her arms around Kemp, she was hit with a searing pain and realised she was bleeding from a stab wound in her back.
Kemp slipped the knife into her dressing gown pocket and silently walked away.
Heroic Rescue and Police Response
The victim managed to flag down passersby outside a nearby takeaway, who quickly called the police. Officers arrived minutes later to find her slumped in the road, bleeding heavily.
She was rushed to the hospital and treated with stitches to close the stabbing wound.
Kemp’s Guilty Plea and Sentencing
Arrested and questioned, Kemp initially denied trying to seriously harm the teenager. But she later pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in public.
On Thursday, 12 March at Nottingham Crown Court, Kemp was jailed for three years and six months. She was also slapped with a restraining order to keep away from her victim.
