Gardai made a massive drug bust worth around €830,000 after raiding properties in west Dublin over the weekend. The operation, named Operation Tara, targeted a premises in Lucan, where officers uncovered large quantities of suspected ketamine.
Ketamine Stash Discovered in Lucan
- Sunday’s search by Ronanstown Drugs Unit revealed 1 kilo of suspected ketamine valued at €60,000.
- Follow-up raids on Monday uncovered an additional 13 kilos worth €770,000.
- The total estimated value of the seizure now stands at roughly €830,000.
- A man in his 20s was arrested and is currently held at a Garda station in Co Dublin.
The drugs have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for further examination. Gardai confirmed investigations into the case are ongoing.
Huge €7 Million Cannabis Seizure in Co Kildare
Just days earlier, Gardai seized €7 million worth of cannabis in a separate but similarly titled operation, also part of Operation Tara. The Kildare/Carlow Drugs Units, Crime Functional Area, and Eastern Regional Units joined forces for this big hit.
- The raid took place last Wednesday at a property in Athy, Co Kildare.
- Three men aged 30s-40s and one woman in her 20s were arrested on the spot.
- Arrests were made under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
- Drugs are awaiting analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed on 6 April that investigations continue as officers crack down hard on drug trafficking across the region.
