Serious Allegations Rock Former Firearms Inspector
John Doyle, 53, once a key figure in the Met’s Specialist Firearms Command, is set to face court over a shocking string of sexual offences.
Charged With a Shocking List of Crimes
On 4 February, Doyle was hit with a postal requisition charging him with:
- Five counts of rape
- One count of assault by penetration
- Two counts of coercive and controlling behaviour
- Two counts of actual bodily harm
- Four counts of grievous bodily harm with intent
- Two counts of misconduct in public office
- One count of possession of extreme pornography
All offences reportedly involve a single victim and span from 2012 to 2024.
Legal Drama Unfolds
Doyle was arrested back on 24 June 2024 and immediately suspended from duty. On 10 December, amid ongoing criminal proceedings, he was sacked from the Met in a private hearing.
He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 11 February. The case is set to send shockwaves through the force.
