A violent and controlling man from Faversham has been locked up after terrifying a woman and leaving her fearing for her life.
Relentless Abuse and Intimidation
Between June and November 2025, Aaron Nugent repeatedly assaulted his victim and controlled every aspect of her life. He dictated where she could go and who she could speak to. The abuse wasn’t just physical — he stalked her relentlessly, showing up uninvited at places she planned to visit and behaving offensively.
His cruelty escalated when he smashed a brick through her window and broke into her home after she refused him entry.
Two-Hour Violent Ordeal
On one harrowing occasion, while drunk, Nugent attacked the woman for two hours straight. He repeatedly punched and slapped her, grabbed her by the neck leaving bruises, and even threatened to kill her.
Justice Served: Four Years Behind Bars
Nugent, 45, from Breeze Meadow, Faversham, was arrested on 28 November 2025. He faced charges including non-fatal strangulation, controlling and coercive behaviour, actual bodily harm, assault by beating, threats to kill, and criminal damage. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four years in prison on 18 February 2026 at Maidstone Crown Court.
“Nugent is an appalling individual whose violent behaviour put the victim in considerable fear. I am pleased he has been taken off the street and is no longer a threat to women,” said Police Constable Sonita Cox.
“Kent Police always takes reports of domestic abuse seriously and we have specially trained officers who ensure investigations are carried out carefully and sensitively. Victims are safeguarded, and offenders are swiftly brought to justice.”
