Firefighters are locking horns with a fierce blaze near a Premier Inn on Cherry Garden Lane. Thick smoke billowing from the fire is visible miles away, even reaching the nearby M20 motorway.

Smoke Clouds Motorway – Drivers Warned

The fire erupted in what’s believed to be an abandoned building next to the M20. Drivers on the busy motorway have been warned the heavy smoke could briefly reduce visibility.

Three Fire Engines and Height Vehicle Tackling Flames

Three fire engines plus a height vehicle are on site, working hard to douse the flames using main jets. Thick, rolling smoke is pouring out from the derelict structure, visible across Folkestone.

 

Official Fire Service Warning

“Crews are advising people living, working or travelling near Cherry Garden Lane to please close windows and doors due to smoke coming from a derelict building,” a fire service spokesperson said.

Emergency teams are urging residents and commuters to stay safe and remain alert while the blaze is tackled.
