Massive Shed Fire Sparks Near Nutley Farm

Fire crews rushed to a major blaze near the A22 in Nutley after a large shed caught fire close to a farm. East Sussex Fire and Rescue received the alarm shortly before 5pm on Monday, 6 April 2026.

Firefighters Tackle Flames Amid Explosion Fears

Four fire engines were initially dispatched, including vehicles from West Sussex Fire and Rescue. Crews used breathing apparatus and main jets to control flames engulfing the shed, a vehicle, and several gas cylinders, raising serious explosion risks.

Damage Report: Shed, Car & Trees Scorched

The 10-by-5-metre shed suffered heavy damage, along with a car parked nearby and surrounding trees. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far.

Residents Told to Stay Clear and Shut Windows

Local residents were warned to avoid the area and keep doors and windows closed as thick smoke drifted across the neighbourhood.
