‘Perfect Neighbour’ Found Dead in Hounslow

A much-loved 71-year-old grandmother has been found dead with fatal injuries in her west London flat near Heathrow Airport. Elena Poltorac, originally from Tulcea, Romania, was discovered by her landlord on Bath Road, Hounslow, on Sunday morning.

Forensics are combing through her top-floor flat where she had lived for around two years, searching for clues in the shocking murder case.

Neighbours praised Elena as a “super nice” and “perfect neighbour.” Sohel Bhengra, 30, said: “She was really friendly and happy because someone from her own country had moved in nearby. She was always smart, well-dressed and polite. We’re all devastated and can’t imagine who would want to hurt her.”

Bobby Singh, 42, added: “The landlord found her after she hadn’t been seen for a while. She was cheerful the last time I saw her. A lovely grandmother type, always positive and happy. She recently cooked with others in the communal kitchen and cared for her grandchildren.”

Police Launch Murder Probe

Officers have launched a murder investigation after declaring Elena dead at the scene. No arrests have been made yet, but police are actively hunting for answers.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Denby said: “This is a tragic incident. We are working hard to uncover what happened and keep an open mind on all lines of inquiry. Anyone near Bath Road who saw or heard anything unusual is urged to come forward. Even minor details could be vital.”

Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the busy Bath Road, which is covered by numerous cameras from local shops and traffic cameras. The flats sit above a catering business, providing a busy setting under close surveillance.

Community Left Reeling

Hounslow Council leader Shantanu Rajawat expressed sorrow: “My heartfelt condolences go to the family and friends affected by this shocking incident. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed they are treating this as a murder.”

Neighbours remain stunned by the death of a retired cleaner, known widely for her kindness and warmth. Her loss has sent shockwaves through the local community.
