Death Toll Rises Amid West Bank Violence
The Palestinian health ministry reported another grim casualty in the West Bank today, pushing the death toll to six following a new wave of violence. The flashpoint was Jenin, where Israeli forces targeted a mosque during fierce clashes with Palestinian militants, killing two people whose identities remain unknown.
Additional shootings saw a 19-year-old killed in Tubas and a 26-year-old fatally shot in Nablus by Israeli forces. The details surrounding the fifth and sixth deaths overnight are still unclear. Since October 7, a staggering 91 people have died in the West Bank amid ongoing Israeli military actions.
Aid Trickle to Gaza Amid Siege
Meanwhile, a second convoy of 17 aid trucks has crossed into Egypt at the Rafah border, heading towards Gaza. This comes after 20 trucks entered yesterday, marking the first relief allowed into the territory after two weeks of a strict Israeli siege, according to Egyptian media.
UN Aid Chief Sounds Alarm
UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths warned that aid deliveries remain insufficient and slow for Gaza’s two million residents. He revealed tough negotiations with Israel, Egypt, and the US over the stringent inspection procedures on aid trucks, a key bottleneck delaying relief efforts.
“The aid being allowed in is nowhere near enough to meet the desperate needs of the population,” Griffiths said.
International pressure mounts as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens, with no quick solution in sight.
