Motorists across the UK are being urged to remain vigilant after a convincing scam email pretending to be from the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) has begun circulating.
The email, appearing to come from “[email protected],” falsely claims that the recipient’s recent vehicle tax payment was unsuccessful and urges them to update payment details immediately to avoid fines of up to £1,000.
One recipient noted:
You could really fall for this — especially if you happen to be renewing your vehicle tax! Who starts an email with ‘Welcome’ anyway?“
Official DVLA Advice
