Human remains discovered near the M67 in Tameside have been confirmed as those of a young man believed to have been aged between 20 and 28. Greater Manchester Police launched an investigation after road workers discovered the body shortly after 11pm on Monday, 3 August, while carrying out routine maintenance work near a bridge between Junctions 3 and 4 of the M67. A Home Office post-mortem examination has since been carried out as detectives work to establish the identity of the man and the circumstances surrounding his death. Police said the man is believed to have been aged between 20 and 28, between 5ft 5ins and 5ft 9ins tall, and of medium build. His ethnicity has not yet been established. Detectives are now carrying out extensive enquiries to determine how the man’s body came to be near the motorway bridge and how he died. Officers are also working to identify the man and trace his next of kin. The circumstances surrounding the discovery remain under investigation by Greater Manchester Police, with further enquiries continuing.
