Man Arrested and West Wight Bus Stop Sealed off following Serious Assault

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following a serious assault in Yarmouth. A Yarmouth bus stop and shelter has also been sealed off by Police following the attack of a bus passenger that was captured by nearby CCTV. The assault is understood to have happened just before 11pm on Sunday evening. [data-ps-embed-type=slideshow] > iframe {position: absolute;top: 0;left: 0;} _psEmbed(“https://uknip.photoshelter.com”);Five Police vehicles from across the Island supported by the Isle of Wight dog unit and two ambulances were sent to the scene of what is being described as a serious assault. Shocked witnesses described seeing a woman being loaded into the back of an ambulance on the a stretcher. Police have placed a cordon tape around the main shelter and pools of blood can be seen on the pavement and hand smears on the shelter glass. It is understood that woman has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance after being treated by Paramedics at the scene for a serious head injury. An arrested has been made by Isle of Wight Police shortly after. It is understood that the man has been taken back to Newport Custody for questioning by officers. A spokesman for Hampshire Police “We were called at 10.04pm last night (22 July) to reports of a woman having suffered a head injury near the bus station in Yarmouth. “The woman, in her 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment. “A 29-year-old man from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and a 28-year-old woman from Totland Bay was arrested on suspicion of assault. “They remain in custody at this time.” [su_youaacrossl=”https://youtu.be/hTi7MvXaZNY”]
