A shocking incident unfolded at a hotel for asylum seekers in Southampton. Sukirthan Thangrasha, 38, from Sri Lanka, exposed himself after attacking two members of staff, a court heard.

Assault and Exposure at Highfield House Hotel

The disturbing event took place at Highfield House Hotel on 15 August 2025. Thangrasha is now on trial at Portsmouth Crown Court, charged with one count of exposure. He has already pleaded guilty to assaulting the two staff members.

  • The defendant was assisted by a Tamil interpreter during the trial.

  • Prosecutor Jack Furness revealed that while Thangrasha admitted to exposing himself, he denied intending to cause alarm or distress.
