Brutal Knife Attack Shocks Local Community
Lal Miah, 44, from Stansted Road, Bishop’s Stortford, has been locked up for 22 years following a savage stabbing last July. The attack unfolded on 6 July 2025 inside a home on his own street. Miah, who denied the charges, was found guilty of attempted murder after a tense seven-day trial at St Albans Crown Court.

During a fiery argument, Miah stabbed the victim multiple times in the chest with a large kitchen knife. A quick-thinking bystander rushed the badly injured man to the hospital, where doctors battled to save his life.

Officers tracked Miah down and arrested him the very next day at a property in East London.
“This was a horrific and violent attack on the victim, which would have been deeply distressing and frightening,” said Detective Sergeant Mike Doe from East CID. “I thank the victim for his cooperation and hope he can now move on, knowing justice has been done.” “Our detectives worked tirelessly with specialist units, including the Operational Support Group, to catch and charge Miah. This sends a strong message – we have zero tolerance for violence and will do everything to secure justice.”
