Top Rescue Teams Battle Harsh Conditions
Emergency services, including Leicestershire Fire and Rescue, Leicestershire Search and Rescue, and the National Police Air Service, sprung into action immediately. Despite their tireless, round-the-clock efforts, Xielo remains missing, leaving his family devastated and the local community in shock.
The search has expanded far beyond the initial area. Specialist divers from Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Police have dived into the murky depths, while volunteer teams from neighbouring counties have scoured the banks. Marine units from Kent, West Mercia, and the Metropolitan Police have deployed sonar gear to comb the riverbed, battling rising waters and relentless rainfall.
Experts Step In to Boost Search Efforts
Reinforcements came in the form of Specialist Group International (SGI), adding vital expertise to the already complex operation. Assistant Chief Constable Michaela Kerr praised the unwavering commitment of all involved. “This is one of the most complex and challenging search operations we’ve faced in the UK,” she said.
