A Metropolitan Police officer will undergo a misconduct hearing after being convicted of devastating sexual offences.

PC Dion Arnold Convicted of Eight Sexual Offences

PC Dion Arnold, 33, was found guilty of eight offences, including four counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and two counts of sexual assault. The verdict came on Thursday, April 16, following a trial at Guildford Crown Court, after an investigation by Surrey Police. Arnold, who remains suspended from duty, will be sentenced on Wednesday, June 22.

Victims Show Courage, Met Police Condemn Abuse

“The victim-survivors in this case have shown enormous courage by coming forward and reporting PC Arnold’s crimes to police, as well as giving evidence in court,” said Chief Superintendent Dan Knowles, head of policing in London’s South West. “Their testimony was crucial in securing this conviction and stopping Arnold from ever harming another woman in this deplorable way. “We are sickened he used his position to gain trust and commit these horrendous crimes while serving as a Met officer.” “We understand the impact this has on public confidence, but we urge anyone with information to come forward. Our professional standards teams have been significantly strengthened to root out wrongdoing.”

Shocking Abuse by Trusted Officer

  • Arnold began as a Special Constable in 2014, becoming a full officer in 2016 with the South West Command Unit.
  • He was arrested in March 2025 after Surrey Police were alerted to multiple reports of rape and sexual assault between June 2023 and March 2025.
  • Forensic phone evidence revealed he admitted “going too far” but continued offending despite the victims’ refusals.
  • Four women came forward, leading to 17 charges in total.

Met Police Crackdown on Misconduct

London expects top standards from its officers—and the Met is delivering tough reforms. Since 2022, around 1,500 officers and staff have left the force due to misconduct, with internal reports of wrongdoing nearly tripling thanks to improved reporting culture. The Met’s Operation Onyx reviewed over 1,600 sexual and domestic abuse cases, leading to 378 dismissals to protect the public. Chief Superintendent Knowles added: “The overwhelming majority of our workforce refuse to tolerate poor behaviour. We are committed to rooting out those who betray public trust.”
