Near Miss Hit and Run leaves Woman with Face injuries

Police are appealing for help to trace the driver of a car which forced a pedestrian to jump out of its way to avoid a collision in Farnborough. The 60-year-old woman was crossing the road at the traffic lights at the junction of Prospect Road and Stake Lane, when a silver hatchback accelerated past queuing traffic, almost hitting her. As a result of trying to get out of the way of the oncoming vehicle, the woman fell onto the road causing her injuries to her face. The car, which failed to stop at the scene, is described as a silver hatchback, which may have been a Volkswagen Golf. The incident happened at 6.10pm on Thursday, July 14. PC Steve Claridge, from the Roads Policing Unit at Whitchurch, said: “We would like to find the driver of this silver car which failed to stop at the scene. “The woman suffered bruising and grazing to her face as a result of her trying to avoid being hit by this vehicle. “It happened at the Stake Lane side of the railway bridge and we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who thinks they know who the driver is.” Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Claridge on 101, quoting 44160262752, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
