Firefighters Scramble to Kebab Shop Inferno
Fire crews from all over London swarmed Walthamstow High Street tonight (January 23) after a huge fire ripped through a kebab shop. By 10pm, 10 fire engines and around 70 firefighters had arrived on scene following urgent calls from locals.
Blaze Spreads to Three Shops; Search Underway
The fire quickly spread across a terrace housing three commercial units – a kebab shop, a phone shop, and a clothes store. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were seen storming the flats above, searching properties amid rising smoke.
Residents Rescued; Missing Persons Feared
Three residents from the flats above were led to safety by crews. However, several people remain unaccounted for, though the London Fire Brigade has refused to disclose how many are missing.
Emergency Response in Full Force
- An aerial ladder and fire rescue unit were deployed to tackle the blaze.
- A large command centre has been set up on nearby Veron Road.
- Fire teams from Walthamstow, Leyton, Tottenham, and nearby stations are all battling the inferno.
