Tragic Death of PC Louie Day in Early Morning Crash
Police constable Louie Day, 23, has been revealed as the man who died after a horror collision on the A414. Louie was driving his black Vauxhall Corsa when it left the road and smashed into a tree between Chelmsford and Ongar just before 3.30am on Friday, 5 September. Emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene.
Family Mourns “Beautiful Soul”
Louie’s family paid an emotional tribute, saying: “It is with greatest sadness that we announce the passing of our son Louie Day. A beautiful soul has left this world and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. We would now like some privacy to grieve in peace.”
Serious Collision Unit Launches Probe
Inspector Mark Fraser, leading the investigation, said: “My thoughts are with Louie’s friends, family and colleagues at this really difficult time. Specialist officers are supporting his family as we work to uncover what caused the crash. We do not believe any other vehicles were involved. We urge anyone who saw the collision or has footage to come forward.”
Metropolitan Police Pay Tribute
PC Louie Day was a response officer based in Barking and Dagenham with the Met’s East Area Command. Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell commented: “The Metropolitan Police are deeply saddened by the death of a serving officer. Louie was well-liked by colleagues, who are devastated by his loss. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.”
