Popular Southsea Charity Store Set to Close

A popular charity shop in Southsea is set to close, citing rising costs at its present location. The Ark Furniture Store. in Albert Road has been raising funds to support the valuable work of The Stubbington Ark for two decades, supplying quality second-hand furniture and household goods in the south of the city. Rising rents in Albert Road are forcing smaller independent and charity retailers out of the popular street, seeing the Subway US sandwich chain and Costa Coffee open recently on the street, once lovingly dubbed “the Independent Republic of Albert Road. The Ark Furniture Store is unfortunately having to close its doors permanently,” The Ark’s Iain Styles told Spotted Portsmouth. All of us here would like to thank all of our customers past and present for your support over the years, but due to rising costs we can no longer carry on in our current location.” “We hope to see you over the next couple of months, there are still plenty of bargains to be had, and of course we we still be accepting donations, large or small,” Iain said. “Once again, thanks for all your support,” he added.
