The withdrawal comes in response to reports suggesting that the Dutch translation accidentally revealed the royal figure involved in the controversy surrounding comments about the skin colour of Harry and Meghan’s baby.
The book reportedly disclosed the identity of the royal family member who made remarks about the potential skin tone of Harry and Meghan’s first child during an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. Meghan Markle, with a black mother and white father, shared the details of the conversation, sparking a significant crisis within the royal family.
Prince Charles, now the king, and Prince William both denied being the individuals who made the remarks. The controversy led to tensions between Harry, Meghan, and the rest of the royal family. The Dutch edition’s withdrawal indicates a response to the inadvertent revelation, as the publisher addresses the error in translation.
The controversy around the comments had seemingly reached an understanding, with Harry and Meghan agreeing not to raise the issue again in subsequent public appearances or projects.
