Second Instalment Completes Hairdresser’s Grant

Second instalment completes hairdresser’s grant

Test Valley Borough Council has presented the second installment of the £1,000 Independent Retailer Grant to Victoria Smith-Dowse of Inspirations Hair Design. Victoria opened Inspirations, a hair salon in Dukes Mill Shopping Centre, Romsey, in February last year, following her decision to transfer her mobile business to permanent premises. Victoria previously worked as a hairdresser on cruise liners and then spent time growing her freelance business before the unit in Romsey became available. Romsey Abbey ward member, Councillor Ian Richards, presented the cheque and said: “I’m really pleased to see that Inspirations has become an established salon in Romsey. The business is going from strength to strength and Victoria is building up an excellent client base. I wish her the best of luck for the future.” Recipients of the £1,000 grant receive £500 after three months of trading and a further £500 six months later. To be eligible for the grant, new or existing independent businesses must occupy a town centre ground floor unit which has been vacant for at least one month. Qualifying businesses include shops, restaurants and cafes.
