A serious accident occurred on Seven Mile Lane near Hugh Lowe Farms at approximately 1:30pm on Monday, 9 June, resulting in power cables being brought down and affecting over 140 properties in the Mereworth area.
Emergency services, including Kent Police, attended the scene swiftly, placing closures in effect while engineers assessed the damage. The live cables caused significant disruption, and electricity supplies to dozens of homes were cut as a safety precaution.

Local resident Philips Owen, who first reported the incident, confirmed that the accident had a widespread impact on local infrastructure. The road remains partially blocked, with recovery and repair teams working to restore power and reopen the road safely.
Police Advisory
A police spokesperson urged motorists to avoid the area until further notice, saying:
“Due to fallen power lines and ongoing recovery operations on Seven Mile Lane near Hugh Lowe Farms, we advise drivers to seek alternative routes. Engineers are working to restore power as quickly as possible.”

Power companies are on-site addressing the issue, but full restoration may take several hours. Affected residents have been advised to check with their electricity provider for updates or use their supplier’s online outage tracker.
