A dangerous sex offender has landed back behind bars after flouting strict legal rules. Sebastian Pavel Baltatu was booted out of the UK in 2020 but shockingly snuck back in, breaking all the sex offender requirements.

Officers Track Down Manchester Predator

Greater Manchester Police’s Sex Offender Management Unit (SOMU) caught Baltatu after routine checks revealed he was unlawfully in the country. The 24-year-old ex-rapist was found living in Gorton, Manchester, when he tried to claim Universal Credit.

Convicted Rapist of Child Sentenced Again

Baltatu, born 2 September 2001, was jailed for three years in 2019 after raping a child under 13. After his return, officers swooped in March 2026. He was arrested in a coordinated raid and held until his court appearance.

18 Months Added, Deportation Looms Again

At Manchester Crown Court on 17 April 2026, Baltatu pleaded guilty to five breaches of his sex offender orders plus breaking his deportation order. He was sentenced to 18 months behind bars and now faces deportation for the second time.
