A chilling murder stunned a quiet Peterborough neighbourhood after Gregory Coulson, 31, was found guilty of killing his own mother.

Brutal Attack at Family Home

Gregory stabbed 67-year-old Carmen Coulson to death at their Lingwood Park home in Longthorpe. Police were called by Gregory himself at 2.44am on Sunday, 9 February last year, though evidence suggests the murder happened the night before.

Jury Rejects Intruder Story

Officers arriving at the detached house found Mrs Coulson dead with multiple wounds, including a fatal stab to the heart. A post-mortem confirmed the savage injuries.

At trial, Coulson denied the murder and claimed that intruders had broken in and killed his mother. The jury didn’t buy it. On 10 March, they unanimously convicted him of murder.

Sentencing Date Set

Gregory Coulson is due to be sentenced on 17 April at a court yet to be confirmed.
