Three people have been arrested and over 100 large nitrous oxide cannisters seized after a major police raid on a store in Rubery last night.
Officers from the Hagley and Rubery Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) executed a warrant under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 at a premises on New Road, supported by nearby SNT teams and Trading Standards.
Inside the store, police found:
- 107 one-litre cannisters of nitrous oxide
- Distribution paraphernalia including balloons and bags
- Mobile phones and evidential documents
- A quantity of illegal vapes removed by Trading Standards
Nitrous oxide – commonly known as “laughing gas” – is a Class C controlled substance. Since November 2023, it has been illegal to possess, supply, or sell for recreational use in the UK.
Three individuals – two in their 20s and one in their 30s – were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class C drug. All three remain in custody and are assisting police with enquiries.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said:
“This operation demonstrates our continued commitment to tackling drug offences and protecting the local community from the harm caused by illegal substances.”
