Officers were called to The Borough at approximately 5pm yesterday (14/10) following a report of two people fighting.
When officers arrived, one of the men was found to have significant bruising and swelling to his eye.
The man, who is in his 30s from the Downton area, was initially taken to hospital and later taken to custody having been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and affray.
The second man, who is aged in his 40s from Dorset, was also arrested on suspicion of GBH.
Both men were taken to Melksham custody for further questioning where they currently remain.
