Woman arrested after Kingston Play Park Attack

Hampshire Police are carrying out enquiries after an assault took place in Kingston Recreation Ground, close to Byerley Road, in Fratton on Wednesday 4th October. At 12:30pm a 52-year-old man was involved in a verbal disagreement with a woman who had been cycling through the park. She had shouted at an elderly man walking his dog. The victim was subsequently assaulted by the woman and a man who was with her following the disagreement. They ran off afterwards. The 52-year-old victim was left with cuts and grazes to his head and bruising to his ribs. A 32 year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent in connection with this assault. She has been released from custody without charge, but remains under investigation. Police would like to hear from the man who was walking his Jack Russell Terrier in the park at the time, who spoke to the victim. Anyone else who witnessed the assault should also contact police.
