Tragic Blaze Claims Woman’s Life in Plaistow Terrace
Firefighters rushed to a blazing two-storey terraced house on Humberstone Road, Plaistow, as thick smoke billowed from the ground floor.
Three Engines, Twenty Firefighters Battle Flames
Around 20 firefighters from Plaistow, East Ham, and Stratford stations arrived after an emergency call at 11.10am. They found a fierce fire well-developed on the ground floor and managed to bring it under control by 11.36am.
One Woman Sadly Dies at Scene
Wearing breathing apparatus, crews discovered one woman inside the property. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Station Officer Karl Smith said, “On arrival, fire crews were faced with a well-developed fire on the ground floor of the house. Crews quickly extinguished the blaze but sadly one woman was declared dead at the scene.”
Cause of Fire Under Police and Fire Brigade Investigation
Both the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police are probing the cause of the fatal blaze. No further details have been released.
