Drug Dealer Mahbub Kamali Rahman Jailed
Mahbub Kamali Rahman, 33, from Osbaldwick, York, has been sentenced to four years and nine months in prison for possession with intent to supply heroin. The verdict came down at York Crown Court on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
Rahman pleaded guilty last July alongside co-accused Paul Matson, 63, of Bootham Square, York. Matson was handed a 23-month suspended sentence in August last year. Rahman had been remanded in custody while awaiting sentencing, and Matson remains out on bail as investigations continue.
Police Crackdown on Organised Drug Crime
Detective Sergeant Sinéad Brocken of North Yorkshire Police’s Organised Crime Unit said:
“Mahbub Kamali Rahman admitted his role in a conspiracy to supply Class A drugs across York and the Yorkshire and Humber region. The custodial sentence clearly reflects the seriousness of his crimes and the harm caused to individuals and the community.
“North Yorkshire Police, along with our partners, will keep targeting organised crime groups dealing in Class A and other illegal drugs.”
Background: Massive Police Drug Bust in York
In May 2025, North Yorkshire Police executed multiple search warrants in York, uncovering large quantities of heroin, MDMA, cannabis, and cocaine. They also seized cash and evidence linked to the drug supply.
Three local men, including Rahman and Matson, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs. Both men were charged and remanded in custody, while the third suspect was placed on conditional bail.
Detective Chief Inspector Fionna McEwan praised the police teams involved, saying, “This operation shows our ability to smash organised drug crime that ruins lives. We thank the public for their ongoing support and urge anyone with information to come forward.”
