Unclear Who is Responsible

It is not yet clear who launched the drone or why Chernobyl was targeted. The plant, which is now decommissioned, is located in the exclusion zone near Pripyat, a highly restricted area due to lingering radiation from the 1986 disaster.

Growing Concerns Over Nuclear Safety

Given Reactor 4’s history, experts are on high alert. The original explosion in April 1986 released a massive radioactive cloud across Europe, forcing thousands to evacuate and leaving lasting environmental damage.

Officials are expected to provide further updates on radiation levels, the cause of the attack, and the extent of the damage to the containment structure.
