No Phones Allowed! Ghost Bans Mobile Devices at London O2 Gig
Concertgoers heading to London’s O2 Arena this weekend for Swedish rockers Ghost are being told to keep their phones in their pockets. The band is enforcing a strict phone ban for their show on Saturday, April 19, part of their ongoing Skeletour world tour.
Phone-Free Gig: What You Need to Know
Fans will experience a full-on “phone-free experience”. Mobile phones, cameras, and recording devices are strictly prohibited in the main performance area. The aim? To get everyone fully immersed in the live show without distractions.
According to the O2 Arena’s official event page, all phones must be locked away in Yondr pouches — magnetic, lockable cases that prevent phone access during the concert.
“This show will be a phone-free experience,” the venue confirmed. “Phones will be secured in Yondr pouches. Guests maintain possession of their phones at all times.”
Those with medical needs requiring phone access will be accommodated. More instructions will be sent to ticket holders ahead of the show.
Fans Back the Ban: A New Concert Era?
Despite the no-photos rule, Ghost’s fans aren’t complaining. On Reddit, one supporter hailed it a “Great move! All other artists should do the same.” Another added, “So excited for it. I yearn for the true concert experience where my fellow ghoulies are dialled in and where I don’t have to watch the concert through a thousand tiny screens held up in front of my face.”
This move ties into a growing trend in live music, where artists aim to create immersive, distraction-free shows that bring fans closer to the action.
Why Ghost’s Phone Ban Makes Sense
Ghost’s shows are known for their theatrical flair and elaborate stage setups. By ditching phones, the band hopes to preserve their eerie atmosphere and deliver a more intimate, electrifying experience.
The O2 will have designated areas outside the main space where fans can use their phones and unlock their Yondr pouches if needed.
Looking Ahead: Ghost’s UK & Europe Skeletour
The April 19 gig is set to pack the O2 with thousands of fans. As Ghost continues their Skeletour across Europe, it’s clear this isn’t just about the music — it’s about living in the moment, phone-free and fully present.
