Phone shop raiders in Worthing charged

Two men have been remanded in custody after being charged in connection with a high-value burglary at a mobile phone store in Worthing.

Officers were called to the Three store on Montague Street in the early hours of Wednesday, March 6, following reports of a break-in. Upon arrival, police discovered that a substantial quantity of stock—including mobile phones, headphones, and other electronic devices—had been stolen from the store room area. The estimated value of the stolen goods runs into the tens of thousands of pounds.

Following an intensive investigation, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) were able to identify two suspects through CCTV footage. Both men were arrested on Monday, March 25.

Robert May, 50, of no fixed address, and Joseph Perry, 41, of Whitebeam Road, Northbrook, Worthing, were later charged with commercial burglary.

The pair appeared before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 26, where they were remanded in custody. They are next due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday, April 23, to answer the charge.
